So I was watching ‘But I’m A Cheerleader’ on television the other night, right? And I was all ‘fa la la la la movie time’ and BOOM- you appear and you’re wearing rainbow pajamas and I didn’t immediately (I apologize) recognize your face, but I recognized your voice, and this picture flooded my mind… I made this, and I had an overwhelming need to share it with you.

Dear Secret Avatar Santa,
I’m feeling nostalgic for the grand old days of ATLA fandom, and that means I’m pining for art of my guilty-pleasure slash ship: Jet and Zuko. Basically anything with the two of them interacting in a not-entirely-negative manner would do! Doesn’t even have to be shippy! Ba Sing Se freedom fighting AUs are a particular weakness of mine, but I also love love love modern AUs of all varieties, so feel free to be as silly and self-indulgent as you like!
Message from your santa, happymascot:
Surprise! :D I really liked your idea of a Ba Sing Se AU, so I thought, it would be really cool to have an AU where grownup Jet and Zuko run the Jasmine Dragon together during the day and dish out DaiLi/fire nation butt-kicking vigilante justice as freedom fighters after hours. Without Jet knowing Zuko’s fire nation, of course. :p
Anyway, hope you like it!
This is basically the greatest thing ever.
Like I don’t even know what to do except sit here staring at this and grinning like an unhinged fangirl.
The dappled sunlight! Their clothes! THEIR FACES!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. THIS IS AMAZING AND THE BEST.
legit cannot handle how scruffy jet is
and how good zuko looks
and how gorgeous this everything is
Our first preview! For narrativepriorities.

Not really a preview, more like studies, trying to flesh out ideas based on your wishlist. :) An ATLA book 2 AU perhaps? <3 What do you think?
AAAH THIS WAS POSTED WHILE I WAS OUT OF TOWN AND I DID NOT SEE IT UNTIL NOW!!!!!!
THANK YOU AND I’M SORRY I DIDN’T SEE IT EARLIER!
BEST BEST BEST
FREEDOM FIGHTER HEARTS AND SPARKLES
I HAVE JUST MET YOU
BUT I LOVE YOU
I stopped by Ryu Ki Hyun’s office to say hi and saw these cool head studies that he had done on a drawing pad. He told me these were from last year’s Comic Con, before the signing. His wife told him he better practice. HA! In the end they told us to stop including drawings at the signing because it was taking too long, which always makes us sad. Anyway, these drawings make me happy.
OH MY GOD
also IS THAT OLDER JET?
IS THAT OLDER JET WITH FACIAL HAIR?
everything is beautiful
Ever since I lost my son…I think of you as my own.
Because I am having so many Zuko feels since his older version was released. I can’t even. I just. Just can’t *_*
So I had to draw some Iroh-Zuko, since it’s one of my all time favourite relationships ever. And I know, Iroh is so so so proud<3
And I kind of have this headcanon in which Zuko and Iroh haven’t seen each other in a while, considering Zuko is busy with his Fire Lord duties, and Iroh is far away in the Earth Kingdom..I bet Zuko came for some calming jasmine tea.<3

Posters from the signing today! And look, older GAang!
OH MY GOD THEY ALL GROW UP SO FINE
I wish Suki and Lin were on these posters, they would be the MOST perfect then. STILL!
Avatar: The Last Airbender - “The Search”
“This weekend at the American Library Association, Dark Horse announced Yang and Gurihiru will return for a second “Avatar: The Last Airbender” graphic novel series called “The Search,” which explores the biggest unsolved mystery in “Avatar” lore: what happened to Prince Zuko’s mother?”
Quotes from Gene Yang:
““The Search” focuses on Zuko and Azula. Aang, Katara and Sokka will be there, of course, but the Fire Nation royal siblings are really the drivers of the action. In “The Promise,” we see Zuko struggling with his responsibilities as Fire Lord. “The Search” is the next stage of that struggle.”
“In “The Search,” the Gang are still teenagers. “The Search” takes place immediately after the end of “The Promise.”“
“In “The Search,” we’ll see what a prolonged stay in a Fire Nation mental institution does to a person.” (About Azula)
“At the beginning of “The Promise,” Katara and Aang are still in that lovey-dovey stage of their relationship. They call each other pet names and are way too affectionate. By the end of “The Promise,” they will have gone through their first conflict. Their relationship will continue to mature in The Search, but it will take a backseat to the Fire Nation Royal Family. After all, that is one messed up family. They need all the panel-time they can get.”
“I love Toph. She was my favorite character to write in The Promise. Sadly, though, she doesn’t have a big role to play in The Search.”
Full Interview HERE.
I’m iffy on Yang’s ATLA writing (I really wish he had some more input from one or two writers from the actual show) and I’m UNSURE about the mental institution thing (and I’m sick of BIG BAD AZULA and would like some, you know, RESOLUTION for her and her issues)…but on the other hand, I’m really really hoping this is good.
Also, FINALLY we get to know about Ursa!
