Okey-dokey. Here’s the deal.
My friend Grace (aka snowcoma) still desperately needs to find a long-term fosterer for her kitties. Their names are Little Owl and Edward-Cat. They are in Seattle.
Grace is in about the worst place a person can be in. She’s currently homeless, and while she has a temporary place to stay while she gets back on her feet, her cats are being boarded — extremely temporarily — at a vet’s office.
If nobody can take them, they’ll go to the shelter. We all know how overloaded shelters everywhere are. We all know what happens to adult cats in shelters. I don’t like putting it like that, but … yes. At the very least, they would be adopted by gods-know-who and she would never see them again. That’s unacceptable to me. No. That’s just unthinkable.
Grace … Grace is extremely bipolar, like me, and like me, she relies on her cats for emotional support. Being separated from them is bad enough. The prospect of having them put down and losing them forever just because life is shitty and crazy is shittier is absolutely horrific. Like, I’ve had nightmares about it level horrific.
These cats come with character references out the wazoo. Neutered, shots, etc. Get along together just fine. Basically, perfect cats.
Guys. That face.
What we need:
Help finding them a foster home, long-term would be best, but at this point, we are just trying to keep them out of kill shelters. Local to Seattle-ish would be best, but if necessary, maybe we could get them driven out somewhere else. Maybe folks could help arrange transport. Grace can be reached at: 503-568-6660. She keeps odd hours, so don’t hesitate to leave voicemail.
Donations to help keep them boarded at the vet’s. It’s about $28 a day for both of them. If you can donate to this, please contact ashbet. Her email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Ashbet is an amazing person, by the way, and is why they are currently in a vet’s being boarded, not in a shelter. So, thank you, babe.
I’ve posted about this before trying to get them a permanent place to stay, and the best we’ve got so far is this (very much appreciated) temporary boarding deal. We really need to make this happen. Mostly I just throw the cat halp stuff up here and say “f-list, f-list, do as you will.” This time, we need to make the magic happen. I need signal boosts on Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Livejournal, and anywhere else you can boost it. I need a fucking miracle, Internet. I’m not just trying to help a friend, I’m trying to help keep a fellow lycanthrope from losing her heart, when she has lost just about everything else a person can lose.
Nobody deserves this. Nobody. Can we please make the world just this one tiny bit less cruel?
Here’s the link again. Please spread it around.
Please spread this around, folks.
I’ve never done this before so I am sure there will be many a “oh this shit again.” But um.
PICTURE RELATED that is Cody, my grumpy but cuddly man who enjoys Twinkies and chicken nuggets and knocking my drinks off of my desk and perching on my shoulder. He’s currently in for tests for a likely kidney problem and. Well I live in NYC so when they told me all they needed to do I was like “YEAH SURE help my baby please” and then saw the bill and basically went. Jesus Christ. I try to put money aside for this sort of thing but it’s still something that, with my job and getting by each month, I more or less cannot afford. Thankfully they allowed me to pay what I could as they still went ahead with the tests, but I literally cannot pay everything even if I emptied my accounts right now because I just turned the lol rent lol bills corner and am recovering from that for next month.
But what they’re doing covers blood and urine work and a bunch of other things for his symptoms and the short of it is the bill is $579.
So uh. Ugh I hate this part I literally cannot even say yes to my father when he offers me money just less ask him or anyone else for it but. My paypal is email@example.com so. I think we know how this goes by now. I’m not an artist or a cool writer so I can’t offer anything in return (unless you like bad RP art). But if anyone can like. SIGNAL BOOST or something in the event that anybody might actually be able to do something, even a little something, I’d appreciate it. (ugh asking even for lol signal boost makes me go rjgsjfsl I hate doing this). But thank you if you at least even read this.
(EDITED TO ADD: a pic because I don’t want to do something like this without proof. because. yes.)
GAIGNUN IS A WONDERFUL, SWEET PERSON, PLEASE HELP HER KITTY!
I have $250 to my name right now, as I’ve been unemployed and on food assistance for four months.
His bladder is infected and completely blocked by crystal formation and he needs the following:
bloodwork to make sure his kidneys aren’t failing
IV nutrition bc he hasn’t eaten in two days
a catheter because he hasn’t urinated in two days
and abdominal x-rays
My roommate covered his $200 vet visit this past Friday. My vet’s office offers only one form of delayed payment, through a company called CareCredit, which I was declined for due to poor credit history.
I hate asking for help and especially hate asking for money, but if anyone out there on tumblr could spare some money to help, my paypal is firstname.lastname@example.org
This is my beautiful, derpy baby, and he’s going to die if I can’t get this money together.
i’ve known ry for years and i know how much love and care this cat gets. if you can do anything, please donate to help cover his costs.
CONNOR IS A SUPER SWEET KITTY AND HE DESERVES A SIGNAL BOOST
Seriously, this cat is a darling. AND HE HAS THUMBS. HELP OUT THUMBKITTY!
ADORABLE. this just helps to prove that even “dangerous” dog breeds can be sweet loving gently pets, so long as that’s how they’re raised. There are no bad dogs, only bad owners.
^^Exactly my thoughts. Pitties are one of my favorite dog breeds, just because they’re so lovable.
I bet you that pinscher wouldn’t ever hurt the kitten and probably fuck a dog up if anything happened to his itty bitty friend.
Abandoning the (really good) discussion about “dangerous” breeds and reminiscing about my old dog and our cat when he was a kitten.
Shadow was the sweetest mommy dog to our cat Wally when we took him in as a kitten, and god, when she passed on, Wally was a mess.
So this just kind of touches my heart and goes to show that animals can have some really, really touching relationships, no matter what anybody says.
Reblogging for my sister. Who will be here this Friday for ECCC, GO FASTER, WEEK!
